AAYAN BRAHMWAR
Multi-Sports
Aayan is a dedicated 9-year-old athlete from Greenock who demonstrates a commitment to youth sport, excelling nationally in tennis and locally in cricket. His weekly schedule reflects the discipline of a competitor, balancing high-level training with extensive travel to access top-tier developmental environments. The character, values and life skills gained through competitive sport have also contributed greatly to Aayan's academic achievement, community spirit and personal development.
Tennis
National Selection & Elite Tennis Pathway
Aayan has been identified by the LTA on their national high-potential list for the Under-10 (10U) age group, a selection reserved for youth players recognized as having the potential to represent Great Britain in future European and international events. He puts in 12 hours of training on- and off the court per week, involving over 5 hours of weekly travel from Greenock to training hubs. His national tournament schedule requires extensive travel to major English performance hubs such as Nottingham, Bolton, Hull, Middlesbrough, and Leeds—as well as across Scotland to Aberdeen, Stirling, and Edinburgh.
Tennis Competitive Milestones & Rankings
Aayan’s competitive record is defined by a consistent ability to challenge older age categories, showing steady progression year-on-year:
o Ages 4 to 7 (2021–2024): Aayan first picked up a racket at age 4 and won his first 8U tournament at age 5 (2022). By age 7 (2024), he was a semi-finalist at the 9U Scottish Nationals and finished the season ranked 8th in Scotland.
o Age 8 (2025): He became Number 1 in Great Britain for the 9U age group. During this year, he became a two-time Great Britain National Champion, won the 9U Scottish Nationals, won his first 10U tournament, and amazing also qualified for the 10U Great Britain Nationals.
o Age 9 (2026): He currently holds the Number 1 ranking in Scotland for the 10U age group and is ranked Number 20 overall in Great Britain. He also continues to push age-group boundaries, recently winning his first 11U tournament.
Aayan tries to always view rankings as merely as a reflection of current performance rather than an absolute measure of success. For him, having fun remains the absolute key to sustaining his daily training effort and fuelling his constant desire to improve.
On-Court Character & Community Involvement
Beyond his technical and athletic skills, the LTA has formally recognised Aayan's competitive character at national tournaments through performance awards focused on how he competes (not results). In the 9U division, he was the recipient of the ‘Laser Beam Focus’, ‘Resilient Competitor’, and ‘The Variation King’ awards for his ability to keep opponents guessing. In the 10U division, he received ‘The Strategist’ award for his clear game planning and execution. Alongside his competitive drive, Aayan remains deeply connected to his community; he thoroughly enjoys going to his local club, Fort Matilda Tennis Club, on Saturday mornings to volunteer and support local coaches with their junior classes.
Cricket Milestones & Age-Group Excellence
In cricket, Aayan currently dedicates 8 hours a week to matches and training, supported by over 3 hours of weekly travel. While youth cricket pathways in Scotland are less structurally integrated at the foundation level, Aayan has established an excellent benchmark by playing for his club's Under-12 team. In the 2024 season, at 7 years old, he finished as the club's highest wicket-taker, securing 16 wickets across 12 matches. He followed this in the 2025 season, at age 8, by finishing as the club's highest run-scorer with 436 runs.
