LAILA DAVIDSON
Football
Laila has far exceeded the required hours for both her Sports Leaders Level 6 and Football Leaders Level 5 courses, completing over 45 hours with Active Schools alone this year. She has led the St Columba’s Girls Football Lunchtime Club throughout the academic year and played a vital role in holiday programmes, delivering over 18 hours at girls’ football and Sport4All (disability-specific) camps.
Reliable, confident, and passionate about becoming a PE teacher, Laila consistently volunteers because she enjoys supporting others and gaining experience. She regularly assists at events and is always keen to improve. Beyond Active Schools, she also volunteers extensively with Morton, supporting girls-only sessions, mini/micro camps, and recreational women’s football—where she serves as lead coach.
Laila’s commitment and leadership have been crucial to the success of multiple programmes. Her natural ability, dedication, and impact across school and community sport make her a standout young coach deserving of recognition.

EUAN FORTEATH
Multi Sport
Euan, a care-experienced young person living at The View Children's House, has completed over 250 hours of volunteering between Aileymill Primary School and Craig Molloy Coaching C.I.C. Since November 2024, he has led weekly PE sessions with Primary 4 and 5 pupils, including children with additional support needs. Euan quickly earned the trust of pupils and staff, tailoring lessons to suit varying abilities and running additional football and softball tournaments during term breaks.
At Craig Molloy Coaching, he has logged over 140 hours assisting weekly classes for more than 160 children. His positive attitude, strong rapport with young people, and willingness to learn have stood out. He has completed First Aid, Trauma-Informed Level 1, and SFA 1.1 certifications, and independently prepared lesson plans using a teacher PE pack.
Euan’s growth in confidence, leadership, and communication has made him a valued role model. He now begins a part-time coaching role while continuing his HNC in Sports Coaching.

BEN GERRARD
Football
Ben has shown outstanding dedication to youth sport through his involvement with the 2024/25 Active Schools/Sports Development Football Leaders programme. He volunteered weekly at a local primary school, helping children develop fundamental football skills, and played a key role in organising and delivering a successful football event for Inverclyde schools. Ben also completed his Sports Leaders qualification, broadening his coaching experience across multiple sports.
He has volunteered over 100 hours across school holiday programmes with Active Schools and Morton in the Community, as well as major events like the Gourock Highland Games. Known for his reliability, professionalism, and strong communication skills, Ben consistently arrives prepared and adapts his coaching to suit all age groups.
His positive influence has been widely recognised by staff, peers, and mentors alike. Always eager to improve, Ben has gone beyond expectations, proving himself a capable leader and role model with aspirations to become a sessional coach in future.

ERIN McELENY
Athletics
Erin is a dedicated volunteer at Battery Park Junior Parkrun, having contributed 158 times since 2016. She began volunteering at Greenock parkrun and transitioned to the junior event, where she now plays a vital role. Erin takes on key responsibilities such as timekeeping and barcode scanning, ensuring smooth event operations. Known for her encouragement, she motivates young athletes every week, often arriving early after completing her own run.
Her commitment is unwavering, volunteering most Sundays throughout the year, regardless of challenging weather. Erin started with family support but now volunteers independently, showing maturity beyond her years. The junior parkrun is a free 2km event for children aged 4-14, promoting inclusivity and active lifestyles. Erin’s enthusiasm, teamwork, and communication make her a respected role model in the community. Balancing sport and studies, she selflessly supports young athletes and inspires others, deserving recognition for her significant impact on Inverclyde’s parkrun community.

HANNAH McGEEHAN
Athletics
Hannah has been with Inverclyde AC for seven years, starting as a Coaching Assistant at 16. She is now a fully qualified UKA Level 2 coach, leading sessions for Minis (ages 5-8) and the U13 group, often stepping up as lead coach when needed. Since August 2023, she initiated and coaches the ZoominZebra Racers, a physical disability session in partnership with Active Schools Inverclyde.
Hannah volunteers regularly at Saturday events, supports holiday camps, and serves as a trainee official for Photo-Finish and team manager roles. She founded the Junior Forum, giving young athletes a voice, and contributed to club welfare projects using her research skills.
While completing her Prosthetics and Orthotics degree, Hannah balanced volunteering with demanding placements, including one in New Zealand where she also coached a U11 cross country team. Upon returning, she resumed her coaching with enthusiasm and remains a valued role model at the club.
